Eight Borussia Dortmund (BVB) players arrived at the Dortmund District Court on Wednesday, to testify in the trial against Sergei W., who is accused of planning the bomb attack on the Dortmund team bus last April. Among the BVB footballers who provided testimonies were Roman Burki, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Raphael Guerreiro, Shinji Kagawa, Nuri Sahin, Julian Weigl, Christian Pulisic and Lukasz... Еще Piszczek. The footballers were initially scheduled to testify on May 14, after the end of the Bundesliga season. However, the court rescheduled their appearances for April 25. Suspect Sergei W., an electrician with dual Russian-German citizenship, is accused of orchestrating the Dortmund team bus attack in order to profit from a decline in the football club's shares. The suspect has been charged with 28 counts of attempted murder, which he has denied claiming that he designed the explosive devices in a way «that no harm to people could be expected.» The suspect could face a life sentence, if he is convicted. The blast on April 11, 2017 ripped through the team bus window, fracturing the wrist of Spanish international defender Marc Bartra and causing hearing loss to a policeman. The vehicle was en route to the club's stadium for the Champions League quarter-final home game against AS Monaco. The trial began last December and is set to end in June.
