Borussia Dortmund fans may have been deprived of watching a key Bundesliga game in person but the easing of the COVID-19 lockdown allowed them to cheer for the favourite club from pubs on Tuesday.
Dortmund lost to FC Bayern Munich 0-1 but the spirit of supporters was undiminished while they followed the match from TVs all across the city.
«This is a very important game from Borussia Dortmund, one of the most important games ever. And is a difficult game without fans in the stadium, especially when you play against Bayern Munich or Schalke, I think the support from the fans is pretty important,» said one fan.
Some fans grieved the disadvantage of playing without spectators but reluctantly agreed that the alternative was better than nothing.
«I think it's not as good as a normal game. I mean the spectators are not there and that means the game, Borussia doesn't have this good thing that the spectators get to the stage, isn't it? So I think it's not as good as a normal game, but I hope it's a good thing for the spectators all over Germany, yes,» said another fan.
With the win against Dortmund, Bayern Munich is poised to capture the Bundesliga title for the eighth consecutive season, a league record.
