Germany: Dortmund court rejects Pakistani lawsuit against KiK clothing chain

A regional court in Dortmund on Thursday ruled against four Pakistanis who had sued German discount-clothing chain KiK for €30,000 ($34,500) each in connection with a textile factory fire which killed 289 people in Karachi in 2012. The Dortmund court determined that under Pakistani law, the statute of limitations for the victims' right to indemnification was no longer valid. In 2017, KiK... Еще agreed to pay €4.53 ($5.15) million in damages to those afflicted by the fire. However, according to the European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR), KiK has refused to pay damages for injuries and suffering, and has refused to acknowledge responsibility in the fire.
