Germany: Court lifts NRW Guetersloh lockdown imposed after slaughterhouse coronavirus outbreak

A court ruled to lift the lockdown imposed in North Rhine-Westphalia's Guetersloh district where the coronavirus outbreak hit a slaughterhouse in June, Rheda-Wiedenbruck, Tuesday. The North Rhine-Westphalian Higher Administrative Court declared that the state's measures to stop the spread of the virus in the district were disproportionate. In mid-June, an outbreak was declared at the meat processing factory Tonnies in Rheda-Wiedenbruck with over 1,500 people testing positive for COVID-19. The outbreak prompted the local government to close all public institutions and impose a lockdown on two districts Warendorf and Guetersloh which was eventually lifted.
