Coronavirus sceptics gathered at Berlin's Brandenburger Tor on Thursday, as activists called for daily demos in the German capital to protest the measures taken by the government to curb the pandemic.
The demonstration was allowed by authorities, but protesters had to observe social distancing and wear masks. Demonstrators could be seen wearing mesh masks in protest, with one reading «against my will.»
At least 15 people were detained for not abiding by the rules, according to the police.
A new wave of anti-COVID measures demonstrations have been taking place in Berlin in the past week. Last Saturday, an estimated 38,000 protesters took part in the biggest protest so far, where at least 300 people were arrested.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel originally announced a series of measures in March, in order to curb the spread of coronavirus. The measures have been gradually eased nationwide, however, in the past weeks the number of new infections has significantly increased.
