Pro-Kurdish protesters clashed with police in Dusseldorf, Saturday, at a demonstration calling for the release of former President of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Abdullah Ocalan. Police sprayed tear gas at protesters who threw flag poles and other unidentifiable objects at the anto-riot units. The protest marks one year since 11 MPs, including the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party... Еще (HDP) leader Selahattin Demirtas, were detained in Turkey for not giving testimony following alleged terror connections. Abdullah Ocalan was seized in Kenya in 1999 and taken back to Turkey where he was tried and sentenced to death for treason and sedition. The sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment when Turkey abolished the death penalty.
