Germany: Chess master Karyakin fancies his chances at Candidates 2018

Russian chess grandmaster Sergei Karyakin gave an interview prior the beginning of the 2018 Candidates Tournament in Berlin on Friday. Karyakin said that he had a “very persistent match” with World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen two years ago and “was close to the victory” but “lost on additional games.” Karyakin said the match was so difficult that it took “almost a year” to recover after it... Еще. Though the Russian grandmaster was “upset” that he “didn't have enough to win,” he realised that he had to continue and start a new page of his “chess biography.” Karyakin went on to say that he became “more experienced” since it is his third Candidates Tournament, adding “I want to set the task to go through the tournament as smoothly as possible.” The Russian grandmaster also stated that he feels the strength “to win this tournament.” “Many things depend on the good luck. Nothing can be done without it,” Karyakin added.
