The CDU and CSU presented their joint programme for the European parliamentary elections, in Berlin on Monday.
Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, the leader of the CDU, voiced her support for the European project.
«We want a Europe that is strong, also economically strong so that in the future it is able to play its role in the world, that it doesn't lay back and not say it will leave the rules of the... Еще game to the Chinese or to the Americans, but rather that it will contribute with its own character,» she said.
Manfred Weber, candidate for CDU-CSU and chair of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament, spoke meanwhile about the migrant crisis.
«A big topic on this continent is still the migration issue, which also comprises questions of identity, and our clear position is for a clear and settled border control to order the external borders of Europe,» he said.
The European parliamentary elections are set to take place on May 26.
