Around 100 demonstrators gathered outside the former 'Teppichfabrik' carpet factory in Berlin, Friday, to protest the eviction of squatters living in the building. A court recently ruled in favour of evicting the building, after the owner said that the squatters had gained access to the site in Alt-Stralau illegally. The owner of the property intends to convert the old factory into offices and... Еще flats. The protesters, who saw the move as an example of Berlin being 'sold out' to the rich property developers, held banners reading «capitalist pigs» and «this is our house». Heavy police presence was deployed at the protest site, and no clashes occurred. Members from the left-wing autonomous scene have reportedly been squatting in the building for months.
