Germany: Berliners hit streets for Black Lives Matter march

At least a thousand people marched peacefully from the historical Gendarmenmarkt to the Victory Column to protest against racism and police violence under the 'Black Lives Matter' movement on Saturday afternoon. Demonstrators first gathered around Gendanmarkt, and then headed towards the US embassy to show their solidarity with those who have denounced the brutal killing of George Floyd at the hand of USA police officers in Minneapolis on May 26 2020. Afterwards, the crowd marched towards Berlin's Victory Column by shouting slogans including, ''Berliners against Racism',' «We all bleed the same colour,'' and ''No to Racism.'' Demonstrators appeared to be partially observing social distancing requirements enforced throughout much of the world due to the global coronavirus outbreak. The demo came to the end with a peaceful sit-in protest in front of the Victory Column.
