Germany: Berliners at odds over preferred election outcome

Berliners were at odds over the preferred outcome of Sunday’s election with some arguing that change in the German parliament is needed, whilst others hoped that German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Party (CDU) remains in power, Saturday. One citizen argued that since Merkel has been in power for 12 years it is, «definitely time for a change to have fresh power, even if she... Еще [Merkel] is a powerful woman, but we need some fresh people. We need fresh ideas.» Another voter argued that with «big change» always comes «a big risk». When Berlin residents were asked whether they thought Moscow had interfered in the upcoming election following the ongoing dialogue over Russia’s alleged interference in the US elections, voters were divided. «Until now I haven’t see any sign of it, so we’ll see what happens tomorrow night. But I don’t think so. But you never know”, one passerby said. Others were more skeptical, «I think so, yes. But I hope it was not possible to have any affect on the election. But I think, and I’m very sure that they have tried it, yes.»
