Germany: Berlin's Ku'damm shopping district falls quiet amid coronavirus outbreak

Berlin's famous Kurfurstendamm shopping area, which is usually packed with locals and tourists, was almost deserted on Wednesday, as Germany follows other major European countries in shutting down public life in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus. On Monday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel confirmed that the European Union will be closing its external borders amid the coronavirus... Еще outbreak for 30 days. The borders will be closed to citizens «that neither belong to the European Union, or the EFTA countries, or Great Britain.» According to the latest reports by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), at least 196,000 people have been infected by the COVID-19 worldwide and over 7,500 people have died. There have currently been 9,367 cases confirmed in Germany with at least 24 deaths.
