FC Bayern Munich football players partied into the night at their Berlin hotel and even on the way there following their 4:2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup final on Saturday.
Despite Bayern's team buses returning from Olympiastadion only after midnight, a group of around 20 dedicated fans and journalists were waiting for the victors for several hours outside the Marriott hotel to witness Midfielder Joshua Kimmich stepping out of the coach with the golden Pokal trophy in his hands. Other players of the Munich squad could be seen through the windows dancing inside one of the two team buses before entering the hotel.
Many VIP guests and the club's senior officials such as CEO Karl — Heinz Rummenigge, Former president Uli Hoeness as well as Vice Presidents Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes also arrived at the luxury hotel to celebrate Bayern's 20th German Cup title and second straight domestic double.
Just a week after sealing their 8th straight Bundesliga title, Hansi Flick's squad beat Bayer Leverkusen 4:2 on the pitch of the empty Olympiastadion in Berlin. David Alaba, Serge Gnabry scored twice in the first half of the final match, while 50th and 51st goals in the season by the unstoppable striker Robert Lewandowski kept the comfortable gap of two goals between the teams in the final score.
As the German football season is over, Bayern Munich remain in the race for the treble, as Lewandowski and Co are targeting to win in the reorganized Champions League, which is expected to resume in August.
