Air Berlin cancelled more than 100 out of a scheduled 750 flights on Tuesday, causing long queues at several German airports including Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Duesseldorf. Around 20 flights were cancelled at the capital's Tegel airport alone, whilst 7,000 passengers have been affected in total. The insolvent carrier reported the reason behind the cancellations is due to 200 pilots calling... Еще in sick. Allegedly the pilots' sickness could be a protest over their potential transition from the insolvent airline to a new buyer, as they fear long-distance flights could be stopped altogether. Germany's second largest airline filed for bankruptcy protection on August 15 after shareholder Etihad Airways withdrew funding.
