Germany: AfD propose sanctions for countries that persecute Christian minorities

The far-right AfD fraction brought a debate to the floor of the Bundestag in Berlin on Thursday, on the issue of the persecution of Christians around the world. One AfD member, Juergen Braun, outlined their proposal for sanctions against nations that were deemed to be persecuting Christian religious minorities. «We would like to, for example, decrease development aid, and to do away with trade... Еще privileges for states that are persecutors [of Christians],» Braun said. The AfD's proposal came under heavy fire from the other fractions. Green member Kai Gehring pointed out that Christians are not the only religion where some of its members are persecuted. Gehring said, «Several thousand members of the Muslim Rohingya have been killed, with over 700,000 being forced to flee. The AfD remains threateningly silent about this, because in their world, Muslims are criminals — not victims — but our world isn’t so black and white.»
