Germany: AfD demo and rival protest held in Altenburg

Around 1000 activists protested against the AfD rally that took place in Altenburg, with the participation of the right-wing party's leaders Bjoern Hoecke and Andreas Kalbitz, Thursday. AfD supporters gathered in the central Market square under the motto «Unity makes you strong» to listen to Hoecke and Kalbitz just meters away from the counter-demo, called by the local Action Alliance for Democracy and Solidarity. Activists from various left-wing parties were heard blowing whistles, shouting out chants, playing the drums, and other musical instruments, trying to disrupt the AfD rally. German police managed to separate the two rallies right in the middle of a square, preventing major confrontations.
