Germany: Activists gather in memory of anarchist slain by neo-Nazis in Berlin

Over 50 people were seen honouring the memory of anarchist and anti-fascist activist Silvio Meier in Berlin on Saturday, 28 years after he was stabbed to death by neo-Nazis. Activists gathered at the site of his killing where a plaque is placed in the underground station of Samariterstrasse in Friedrichshain, where they left flowers and lit up candles before heading to to Silvio Meier Strasse, a street named in his honour, to gather and listen to speeches. Meier died on November 21, 1992 after being stabbed by a group of Neo-Nazis during a confrontation at Samariterstrasse U-bahn station. Members of the left-wing and anti-fascist community in Berlin have routinely gathered on the anniversary of Meier's death, with an award being distributed in his honour by the district authority of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg since 2016.
