Germany: 'A success' — COP23 draws to a close in Bonn

The 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP23) ended in Bonn, Friday, with officials sharing thoughts on «successes» achieved over the course of the summit's 12 days. «We should all be very pleased that COP23 has been a success», stated Prime Minister of Fiji Frank Bainimarama, who served as the summit's President. He added that the goal to «advance the implementation guidelines of... Еще the Paris agreement» was achieved. Minister of Environment of Poland Jan Szyszko also commented saying that «international mechanisms, to loosen damage associated with climate change impacts» have been developed during the COP23 summit. Poland will be presiding over the upcoming COP24 climate change summit that will take place between 3 and 14 December 2018 in Katowice, where the guidelines of the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement are expected to be finalised. COP23 took place under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and aimed to establish ways to combat climate change by reducing carbon emissions on a global scale.
