A 250 kg (551 lbs) bomb from the Second World War was detonated on Wednesday in Potsdam.
The explosive device was located in a lake near the city centre. Thousands of people were evacuated beforehand and the area around Aradosee was cordoned off. The US bomb was in poor condition and had to be detonated according, to blaster Mike Schwitzke.
Before the explosion went off, two warning shots were fired to allow animals in the vicinity to flee.
This is the second of detonations of a WWII era bomb in Potsdam in the last two weeks.
