German: SPD and CSU both declare successful meeting on migration

SPD party head Andrea Nahles and German Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as well as CSU leader Horst Seehofer, spoke to the press on Thursday evening following their meetings on the issue of migration. The members of both parties expressed their belief in the success of the day's meeting. Nahles insisted that the agreement that they had come to would still adhere to the SPD's policies — in... Еще particular that there will be no transit centres, something that the CSU had been advocating. She declared, «Everything is happening through existing laws. Because of this, in no was will there be centres and for the SPD that is never up for debate.» Following their statement, Seehofer discussed the agreement. Despite not managing to acquire transit centres for arriving migrants, the agreement concedes that people who have made asylum applications in other EU countries must be processed within 48 hours and then returned to the nation where the application was made. Seehofer appeared content with this solution, saying, «Ladies and gentlemen, you see a very happy Interior Minister here.»
