German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Brandenburg's Minister President Dietmar Woidke presented the the new commemorative two euro coin in Berlin on Friday. It's part of the ''Federal States'' series with the coins minted annually since 2006.
The latest coin features the iconic Sanssouci Palace on the national side. It is intended to bring awareness of Germany's federal structure to the public in... Еще eurozone countries.
«In the second half of the year, Germany will hold the EU Presidency, but with all due respect, before we carry it out, we know that Europe attains its identity and strength from the diversity of its regions. And with the €2 commemorative coin, we want to acknowledge the special meaning of the federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany and Europe,» said Merkel at the ceremony.
The commemorative coin was designed by Neuenhagen-based artist Jordi Truxa.
