Georgia: Pence tells troops in Tbilisi «Georgia's future is in the West»

US Vice-President Mike Pence reiterated that the US would stand with Georgia as it pursued NATO membership, speaking in front of soldiers in Tbilisi on Tuesday. «We are here today with the steadfast assurance of the United States of America to tell our friends in Georgia 'we are with you,'» said Pence. «We stand with the nation and the people of Georgia, and we will stand with you as you pursue... Еще membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.» He added that Georgia's future was «in the West» and that «American advisors will continue to work alongside your leaders to improve Georgia's military readiness.» Earlier in the day during his short visit to Georgia, Pence announced that US President Donald Trump would «sign legislation to strengthen and codify the United States sanctions against Russia,» signalling Washington's next move in the ongoing diplomatic row between Russia and the US.
