Georgia: Former Georgian Parliament Chair claims trend to 'blame Russia for everything' — EXCLUSIVE

Former Chair of Georgian Parliament Nino Burjanadze expressed her views on Russian-Georgian relations and the conflict that took place in South Ossetia in 2008, in Tbilisi, Tuesday. «There were some very strong forces that maybe were trying to force Saakashvili or to provoke Saakashvili to begin this war in 2008,» the Georgian politician stated. «I see that, after these years, after [the] war... Еще, the situation concerning territorial integrity and conflict solution is [getting] worse and worse», Burjanadze said. She added that the «biggest mistake» Georgian politicians made was in deciding that Georgia should be «the strongest ally of the United States, rather [than of] some other NATO countries.» When talking about how Russia is seen by other nations, she stated, «right now it's a trend everywhere in the world, to blame Russia [for] everything: what Russia made and what Russia didn't make.» Burjanadze concluded by outlining the importance of finding a dialogue with Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and expressing her plans to participate in the presidential elections.
