'Yellow Vest' protesters flooded the French capital for the first time after the coronavirus lockdown was lifted, Saturday.
Riot police were seen present at the protest, where, according to reports, more than 200 people were arrested, with tear gas reportedly being deployed.
«We are used to getting trapped and get tear gas, so basically this is not a surprise for us,» a protester said. «We know what the risks of coming here and demonstrating are, but it doesn't have to mask the base of our debate, the base of what we are claiming,» he added.
The 'Yellow Vests' movement began as a grassroots citizen protest in November 2018 and quickly spread across mainland France, with participants demanding what they see as economic and social justice.
