World War II veterans gathered at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer on Wednesday, amid the commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the D-day landings.
A military flypast took over the skies in honour of the Normandy landings, and paratroopers could be seen descending upon the coast.
Veterans could be seen looking over the rows of white crosses that overlook the... Еще Omaha Beach. One of them, K.T. Robbins said «after 75 years old, I had the chance to come back here. How lucky to get to do that.»
Another World War II veteran, Buck Price, expressed his excitement at «knowing that we did something well at one time,» and said that this is his third trip to the Normandy cemetery, as «first trip, the government sent me and the second trip was five years ago.»
French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Donald Trump will preside over the commemoration ceremony at the Colleville-sur-Mer Memorial on Thursday, where 12,000 participants are reportedly expected.
