Scotland women's national football team coach Shelley Kerr commented that while «it's going to be difficult,» winning one game at the 2019 FIFA Women's World is «certainly our target,» while speaking at a press conference in Nice, alongside team captain Rachel Corsie.
«I played for my country way back in 1989, my first cap and it was against England. We lost 3-0 and we're hoping for a better... Еще result than that tomorrow of course,» said Kerr.
Scotland will face off against England on Sunday and come in to the match as the underdogs having lost their faceoff at 2017 UEFA Women's Championship 6-0. Scotland are however on a winning streak having won their last five matches but they will still be up against stiff competition with England's Lionesses being ranked third in the world.
Kerr also reflected on the upward trajectory of women's football in Scotland, saying «I think for me personally to see the journey that Scottish women's football has been on has been incredible and you know forget performance for a moment I think we look at legacy as well. It's been a great journey for us and a big part of our philosophy was to inspire the next generation in Scotland.»
