USA Women's football team midfielder Megan Rapinoe said she expected to take part in the World Cup final on Sunday after missing the semi-final game against England. She was speaking after a training session in Lyon on Wednesday.
«I do expect to be healthy for the final, I'm feeling really good. I had a good session today and feeling better every day, so… It was really nothing too serious, but... Еще obviously, with such a short time between the games, I just wasn't able to go and felt like, for myself and for the team it was the best, you know, to not even try. So, I wasn't even really tipped for the selection», said Rapinoe.
When asked about team-mate Alex Morgan's tea-sipping goal celebration, Rapinoe said: «We're at the World Cup, what do you want us to do? This is the biggest stage, the biggest moment, I don't think anyone truly believes that we disrespect the game or disrespect our opponents. We have the utmost respect for England and every team that we've faced,» said the player.
Rapinoe scored all four USA goals that helped them to reach the semi-finals. USA will face the winner of the Netherlands-Sweden game taking place on Wednesday.
