France: 'US steps up military presence in Europe' — NATO Sec-Gen. Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg claimed that the US is increasing its «military presence» in Europe, adding that «they are spending more on European security,» speaking in Paris, on Tuesday. Stoltenberg, who arrived to the French capital on the invitation of the French authorities, stressed that, «They have more than tripled US funding for what they call the European deterrence... Еще initiative and there is more US equipment, more US exercises, more US soldiers now because it's going up after the decline after the Cold War.» The NATO Secretary General pointed out that even though there are some «differences,» the current US and Canadian moves illustrate «the unity of NATO.» Jens Stoltenberg met with French Minister for Armed Forces Florence Parly and other French officials during his two-day visit to Paris, which is a part of a run-up to the upcoming NATO summit in July.
