Thousands of pro-Kurdish protesters hit the streets of Paris on Saturday as part of global demonstrations held under the slogan «Rise Up 4 Rojava» to protest against Turkey's military operation in north-eastern Syria.
Protesters were seen carrying signs reading 'Turkey invades Rojava. Europe contemplates' and 'Solidarity with the Kurdish resistance against Daesh', while waving People's... Еще Protection Units (YPG) flags.
One of the protesters, Aslan Deniz, said that «what is happening in Rojava is in fact a massacre. In a few days they massacred a lot of people, and before all, we want peace. We want our autonomy and independence.»
Thousands of protesters have come out on the streets in recent days since Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of a military operation, dubbed 'Operation Peace Spring', on October 9 to create a 'safe zone' cleared of US-backed Kurdish groups.
