France: Tear gas flies at 'Yellow Vests' rally in Lyon

Hundreds of 'Yellow Vests' protesters gathered in Lyon, Saturday, despite a ban on demonstrations in the city centre. People could be seen throwing projectiles at police, that in turn responded with tear gas before clearing the area around Bellecour Square. Eight people were taken into custody, according to local reports. The 'Yellow Vests' movement began as a grassroots citizen protest in November 2018 and quickly spread across mainland France, with participants demanding what they see as economic and social justice.
