France: Renault workers protest outside Paris plant after mass job cuts

Workers protested in front of Renault's Choisy-le-Roi plant in Paris suburbs on Friday after the closure of the factory was announced. In order to reach 2 billion euros in savings, the French car manufacturer Renault announced the closure of the factory which employs 250 people. In total Renault plans to cut 15,000 jobs in a drive to restructure the company following a fall in sales due to coronavirus. One employee said, «They (the management) took advantage of the health situation today in France, after the lockdown to declare this immediately and put everyone in a done deal.»
