Cardinal Archbishop of Lyon Philippe Barbarin faced the third day of trial at the city's Court of Justice on Thursday, over charges of failing to report sexual abuse of minors by a priest of his diocese. Barbarin is accused alongside five other archdiocesan officials for covering up the abuse, but he denies the allegations. Deputy prosecutor Charlotte Trabut declined to call for a sentence... Еще against the Cardinal, saying he is not seeking to convict him due to the statute of limitations' expiration. The trial is still rolling on as victims bypassed the prosecutor's office and insisted, as they are entitled to, in putting their case before a court. If found guilty, Barbarin could face up to three years in prison and a fine of EUR 45,000 (USD 54,000).
