France: Police tear-gas protesters at rally over death of black man

Police clashed with protesters at Paris' Gare du Nord station, Sunday, during a demonstration against the death last month of a young black man allegedly following an arrest by police. Police deployed tear gas against the protesters, who were chanting «justice» as they marched through the train station. Eventually the police pushed the demonstrators outside of the building where the protest... Еще continued. Massar D., whose full name has not been revealed for legal reasons, died after spending a week in a coma. He sustained a heart attack, reportedly during an arrest by police at the Gare du Nord. The protest organisers said in a statement that Massar D. is the latest in a «long list» of non-white men who have died at the hands of the French police. «Our purpose is not to accuse the police, it is to say that we have no reason to believe them and that every time they kill one of us, we die in their hands, we are forced to worry about truth and justice,» said Franco Lollia, spokesperson of the 'Anti-Negrophobia Brigade.'
