French police officer Arnaud Beltrame has died in hospital, Saturday, after swapping himself for a hostage at a Trebes supermarket a day earlier. Beltrame was among the officers who rushed to the scene when the attacker stormed the supermarket. The gunman, who has been identified as 26-year old Redouane Lakdim known for minor delinquencies, was shot dead after the police raided the supermarket. According to French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, the incident «appears to be a terrorist act.» The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) has claimed responsibility for the attack. An investigation has reportedly been launched by the anti-terrorist division of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Paris.
