France: PM Philippe announces 6-month freeze on fuel tax hikes

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced in Paris on Tuesday that the government will suspend the fuel tax increase behind weeks of violent protests throughout the country. Philippe said, «we heard the opinions of the parties involved that I met in consultations in these past few days and I decided to suspend for six months the introduction of these measures.» He also condemned the...
