France: Parisians cast votes in municipal elections after coronavirus lockdown

Voters went to cast their ballots in Paris on Sunday as polls opened for the second round of France’s municipal elections, three and a half months after the first round, which took place two days before the start of the coronavirus lockdown. The second round, originally scheduled for March 12, will see an estimated 16 million voters heading to the polls in around 5,000 cities to elect their mayors. In Paris, the Republicans (LR) party’s Rachida Dati is in a tight race to replace the current mayor, Socialist Party's Anne Hidalgo, who took office in 2014.
