France: Paris wakes up to second national lockdown

France went back into lockdown on Friday to fight a surge in coronavirus cases. In Paris, traffic could be seen by Arc the Triomphe and Place de la Concorde in the morning, as the new measures allow citizens to leave home only to go to work, school, for a medical appointment, to assist loved ones, for essential shopping or for one hour of physical exercise. Non-essential businesses, such as restaurants and bars, will close, but schools, factories and other essential businesses will remain open. French President Emmanuel Macron announced the move to tackle the spread of COVID-19, during a televised address at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Wednesday evening.
