Hundreds of employees of the Nokia site of Lannion protested in Paris on Wednesday against planned job cuts announced by the Finnish telecommunications group.
The company reportedly plans to cut 1,233 jobs in mainland France, including 402 in Lannion by 2021 which represents more than half of the workforce in the local area.
«Our industry is particularly resilient to COVID. Now we heard our SEC (Social and Economic Committee) say: «Ah yes, but we don't know what's going to happen. There is a risk of recession.» Two weeks prior they were telling us we were handling the crisis remarkably well,» explained Patrick, a Nokia employee.
