Neighbours and shop owners reacted following a police search inside an apartment in Pantin, near Paris, on Saturday, in the aftermath of a stabbing attack in the French capital on the previous day.
The apartment is reported to be the last known address of the perpetrator of the attack.
«I heard what was going on when I was at work, starting with the stabbing attack in Paris. Of course, you never think the story would unfold right here, next door,» explained Zarhia, a neighbour.
Five individuals were arrested as part of an investigation into a stabbing incident near the former premises of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which took place on Friday afternoon and injured two people.
«They are discreet, nice people, we never heard a word, we don't even hear their voices when they speak, nothing at all,» she went on to say.
The alleged perpetrator, an 18 year old illegal Pakistani migrant, admitted his participation in the stabbing, explaining he did it to avenge the republishing of cartoons of the prophet Muhammed by Charlie Hebdo earlier this month.
