A crowd of mourners gathered in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine on Saturday to pay tribute to Samuel Paty, a teacher who was decapitated in what authorities have labelled a terror attack.
The crowd included seemingly emotional students of Paty, who described their professor as a «very nice person.»
Several professors were holding signs reading «I am a teacher» in a show of solidarity.
On Friday, 47-year-old history teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded by one of his students outside his school in Conflans Sainte-Honorine, northwest of Paris. The teacher had recently showed caricatures of Islam's Prophet Muhammad to his students during a discussion on freedom of speech.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the incident as an «Islamist terror attack» and urged the nation to unite.
