French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel unveiled a commemorative plaque to Franco-German reconciliation to mark the centenary of the end of World War One (WWI) at the Glade of the Armistice memorial in Compiegne on Saturday. The commemorations mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, the ceasefire signed at Compiegne on November 11, 1918 ending the Great War... Еще. The Glade of the Armistice is built on the site where the the Allies reached agreement with Germany. After unveiling the plaque, Merkel and Macron signed a book of remembrance in a replica of the carriage used to seal the armistice 100 years ago. French President Emmanuel Macron will host around 60 world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Trump for a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe.
