Georges Valbon Park in Seine-Saint-Denis was seen open, with locals flocking there to enjoy the good weather and bask in the sun, Thursday, while the capital's parks still remain closed amid COVID-19 pandemic.
People made quick use of access to public spaces, with families and small children seen strolling in the park, after a long time indoors.
«Obviously, it has to be controlled but we can... Еще appeal to a self-regulation of people, that they pay a little attention,» said Isabella, a local resident.
Many felt that conditions in the park were not threatening and did not feel negatively impacted by the decision.
«People are self-disciplined. We take advantage of the park, they are not glued to each other, not like in public transport. I think we should reconsider the decision to close the parks [in Paris],» said Farid, another resident.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo is at odds with health ministry authorities who have declined her requests to provide more space for city residents by opening parks.
According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, France has registered 178,994 coronavirus cases with 27,428 deaths related to the virus.
