French far-right National Rally (RN) party president Marine Le Pen cast her vote in France's local elections in Henin-Beaumont on Sunday, amid a nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
Municipal elections are taking place across France's roughly 35,000 communes on Sunday despite the lockdown, which came into force at midnight, although turnout is expected to be reduced as a result.
At the last mayoral... Еще elections in 2014 Le Pen's party, then known as National Front, won control of Henin-Beaumont, which lies in the northern French Pas-de-Calais department, with Steeve Brois winning in the first round with 50.25 percent of the vote.
Under the measure, all bars, restaurants and non-essential shops were closed across France to help curb the spread of the COVID-19. There are at least 4,500 confirmed cases in the country, and 91 have lost their lives so far.
