Protesters clashed with riot police in Paris on Tuesday, during an unauthorised rally of health care workers demanding better working conditions.
The riot police were filmed attempting to apprehend a protester while being under a barrage of rocks and bottles, hurled by the protesters close to Esplanade des Invalides. Clashes also broke out on Robert Esnault-Pelterie street.
Similar unauthorised protests were expected across the country as part of a nationwide movement denouncing the lack of equipment in hospitals and stagnant wages.
Last month, French Prime Minister Edouard Phillipe announced that the government will hold a 'public consultation' on health service reform.
