French fishermen blockaded a road leading to the port at Boulogne-sur-Mer on Thursday, in protest against electric pulse fishing. Protesters built a barricade of burning tyres and pallets on an access road. All traffic has been stopped from entering or leaving the port. A similar action was held at the nearby port of Calais, while fishing boats were also deployed offshore to prevent ferries... Еще from coming or going. Fishermen are calling for an end to electric pulse fishing, which is mainly carried out by Dutch trawlers. The method uses electrically charged lines to stun fish and force them into trawling nets. French fishermen say the practice greatly depletes stocks, putting their livelihoods at risk.
