Paris clergy swapped out the zucchetti for hard hats on Saturday, to celebrate the first mass at Paris' Notre Dame since the cathedral’s roof collapsed in a fire in April.
«Sometimes I hear people saying there are no tourists in Notre Dame,» said Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit during the mass. «This term does not give respect to the mystery that incites humanity to look for what is beyond us... Еще.»
No worshippers were allowed inside the cathedral for security reasons, though some officials and construction workers rebuilding the cathedral took part in the mass, all including the chaplains and archbishop wearing hard hats.
Much of the Parisian landmark’s roof collapsed in April when a spectacular fire engulfed the structure which took several hours to extinguish.
