France: EU 'will remain united and determined to reach deal' — Barnier after Brexit deal defeated

The European Union Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said that the EU «will remain united and determined to reach a deal,» while on his way to a meeting of the European Parliament's Brexit steering group in Strasbourg, on Tuesday. The European Parliament's Brexit coordinator Guy Verhofstadt also commented in the wake of UK Prime Minister Theresa May's deal being heavily defeated in the House of... Еще Commons, emphasising that «this result is the consequence of the British political system. The fight between left and right, the fight between Labour and the Conservative Party.» «We have the deadline of the 29th of March, and if they do not make proposals, that we can come to a deal, than we came closer to hard Brexit,» added MEP and Brexit Steering Group member Elmar Brok as he arrived for the meeting. May's deal suffered a historic defeat in the Commons, with 432-to-202 MPs voting against her Brexit proposal. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn subsequently tabled a no confidence motion in the prime minister and her government that will be debated and voted upon on Wednesday.
