France: Corsican nationalist leaders vote in territorial elections final round

Nationalist «Pe a Corsica» (For Corsica) party leaders Gilles Simeoni and Jean-Guy Talamoni voted on Sunday in a polling station in Bastia in the second and final round of territorial elections, following a victorious first round. The Pe a Corsica nationalist coalition are expected to win an absolute majority in the Corsican Assembly for the first time, after winning 45 percent in the first... The governing Pe a Corsica (For Corsica) alliance, made up by pro-autonomy Femu a Corsica (Let's Make Corsica) and pro-independence Corsica Libera (Free Corsica) intend to achieve an equal recognition for the Corsican language along with French, acknowledgment of a specific Corsican residency status, and amnesty for convicts they consider to be political prisoners.
