Over 500 ambulances blocked the A4 motorway and the Paris ringroad, on Monday, as over 2,000 paramedics protested against a reform to the financing of medical transportation. The strike caused a standstill at several locations in the French capital, prompting mass horn-honkings and major delays. The reform reportedly grants hospitals the autonomy to decide on the transportation service... Еще provider for sick patients, rather than the individual patients deciding themselves. The protesting paramedics maintain that it would lead to the 'uberisation' of their job, after it went into effect on October 1, since it could undermine smaller operators. Similar protests are taking place in several other French cities.
