France: 68 hour 5-a-side football match with 807 players sets new world record

The organisation Equal Playing Field broke the world record for the largest number of players to ever play in a continuous five-a-side football game in Lyon on Monday, with 807 players. The game lasted a total of 68 hours and 9 minutes. A second world record was attempted, as Equal Playing Field, which advocates for women in sport, staged a full 11-a-side game on a second pitch, with the most... Еще nationalities (54) to ever play in a football game. Co-founder of Equal Playing Field Erin Blankenship said that the focus of this event is «participation» with the message that «any girl, anywhere» should be able to play, while the spotlight is on the Women's World Cup. Megan Lee, present at the world record attempt, said that she wanted her daughter «to experience this and see that there are a lot of women playing soccer and just see the importance of having an equal playing field.» The numbers are still being verified to confirm whether the world record attempts were successful. The non-profit organisation Equal Play Field already holds two records for the highest altitude football game on the Kilimanjaro and the lowest by the Dead Sea in Jordan.
